JaMarcus Russell, the former NFL quarterback who had a three-year stint in the league, has found himself in the midst of a financial scandal. According to a lawsuit, Russell allegedly took a $74,000 check that was earmarked as a donation to the high school. The owner of a local building company claimed that Russell approached him, stating that the donation would help the football team purchase equipment for their weight room.
However, instead of using the funds for their intended purpose, Russell allegedly deposited the check at a credit union and withdrew an estimated $55,000. Navigator Credit Union is now suing Russell for $55,000.
Mobile County Public School officials confirmed that Russell is banned from the high school’s grounds. Despite this, Russell was spotted attending an event for the football team, violating the restriction.
