HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ Takes on the AFC North
The AFC North is set to take center stage in HBO’s latest edition of ‘Hard Knocks’
The NFL and HBO have announced that the entire AFC North division will be featured in the latest in-season edition of ‘Hard Knocks’, a first for the series. Instead of focusing on a single team, cameras will capture the highs and lows of the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers across the final six weeks of the 2024 season.
“Last season the AFC North became the first division ever to have all four teams finish with a winning record, making it the perfect place to launch this new approach to Hard Knocks,” said Keith Cossrow, NFL Films vice president and head of content.
The AFC North has proven to be one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, with all four teams boasting a winning record in 2023. The Ravens claimed the division crown, while the Browns and Steelers both earned wild-card berths in the playoffs. The Bengals, who won nine games, finished just shy of a postseason spot.
A Division of Rivals
Rivalries will be put to the test in the AFC North
Any of the four teams could plausibly come out on top in 2024. The Ravens are looking to build on their success, retaining Pro Bowl defender Justin Madubuike and signing Derrick Henry to bolster their running game. The Bengals are hoping for a full season from quarterback Joe Burrow, who was limited to 10 games due to a wrist injury last season. The Browns are counting on continuity and improved quarterback play to propel them forward, while the Steelers have made significant changes, signing Patrick Queen and Russell Wilson, and acquiring Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears.
A Battle for the Top
The AFC North is set to be a battleground in 2024
While it’s unlikely that four games will separate the first- and fourth-place teams in the AFC North again, this season’s title battle is shaping up to be a thrilling one. With wider implications on the conference playoff picture, the AFC North is set to be a battleground in 2024.
