The NFL season is just around the corner, and teams are gearing up for what promises to be an exciting campaign. One team that’s been making waves is the Jacksonville Jaguars, who finished with a 9-8 record last season but missed out on the playoffs. This year, however, quarterback Trevor Lawrence is optimistic about their chances.
The Jaguars are looking to improve on last season’s performance.
Speaking to NFL Network, Lawrence expressed his confidence in the team, saying, “The best days are definitely ahead of us.” He also acknowledged that he has yet to play his best football, which is a promising sign for Jaguars fans.
The team has made some significant additions to their roster, including defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who signed a three-year, $51 million contract. They’ve also bolstered their receiving corps with the addition of Gabe Davis, who inked a three-year, $39 million deal. Other new faces include corner Mitch Morse, left guard Ezra Cleveland, safety Darnell Savage, and running back D’Ernest Johnson.
However, the Jaguars have also lost some key players, including Calvin Ridley, who defected to the Tennessee Titans. They also waived linebacker Dequan Jackson and wide receiver Wayne Ruby with an injury designation.
Despite these changes, Lawrence is confident that the team has what it takes to make a deep playoff run. But not everyone shares his optimism. Craig Carton, a sports analyst, expressed doubts about the Jaguars’ chances, citing their failure to capitalize on opportunities last season. “They would have won the division, they could have had home-field advantage throughout the playoffs,” Carton said.
Carton also believes that C.J. Stroud, the Houston Texans’ quarterback, has surpassed Lawrence as the best quarterback in the AFC South. “C.J. Stroud happened with the Houston Texans, and the argument can no longer be made that [Lawrence] is the best quarterback in the division,” Carton said.
Trevor Lawrence is determined to lead the Jaguars to the playoffs.
Only time will tell if the Jaguars can live up to Lawrence’s expectations. One thing’s for sure, though - they have the talent and the drive to make a serious push for the playoffs.
The Jaguars are looking to make a statement this season.
It’s going to be an exciting season, and we can’t wait to see how the Jaguars fare. Will they be able to overcome their shortcomings and make a deep playoff run? Only time will tell.
