NFL Network is cutting ties with commentator Michael Irvin after 15 years, marking a significant change in the network’s lineup. Irvin’s exit comes amid a major shakeup at the network, with several other on-air talents also departing.

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver had been at the network since 2009 and had become a familiar face to fans. However, his time at the network was not without controversy. In 2023, Irvin was booted from NFL Network’s Super Bowl coverage following a complaint from a woman as he checked into his hotel. Irvin denied any wrongdoing and filed a defamation lawsuit alleging he was falsely accused.

“I am disappointed but not surprised by the NFL Network’s decision,” Irvin said in a statement. “I have always been committed to bringing the best possible coverage to our fans, and I will continue to do so in my future endeavors.”

Despite the controversy, Irvin returned to the network later that year at the start of the NFL season. However, it appears that his time at the network has now come to an end.

NFL Network is currently going through major changes, with several other on-air talents also departing. At the beginning of April, it was reported that Melissa Stark, Andrew Siciliano, Will Selva, and James Palmer were getting cut. The network is also in the process of moving production of Good Morning Football from New York City to its headquarters in Los Angeles.

The morning show, hosted by Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Jason McCourty, and Peter Schrager, was placed on a hiatus until later this summer amid the move. GMFB briefly returned to cover the NFL draft from Detroit, Michigan, but it is unclear when the show will return to air live episodes or which hosts will make the move to the West Coast.

The New York Post was the first to report news about Irvin’s departure from NFL Network.
