NFL Coach of the Year Odds: Matt Eberflus and Jim Harbaugh Favored
The NFL Coach of the Year award has seen significant fluctuations in the betting odds over the past few months. As the new season approaches, the odds have shifted, and two coaches have emerged as favorites to win the award.
A Shift in Odds
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski won the Coach of the Year award last season, marking his second time winning the award in four seasons. However, according to the current betting odds, he is not favored to win the award next season, with the longest odds to win at +7000.
Back in March, new Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was favored to win the award. Harbaugh is no stranger to the award, having won in 2011-12 after leading the San Francisco 49ers to a 13-3 record and an NFC West title in his first season.
However, in recent weeks, there has been a major shift in the odds, with Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus now tied with Harbaugh as the favorite to win Coach of the Year at +900.
“Through his first 34 games as an NFL head coach, Eberflus has just a 10-24 record. He has the second-lowest winning percentage in franchise history (0.294) behind John Fox (0.291).”
Despite his current record, oddsmakers have set high expectations for Eberflus. The Bears have made significant changes, including drafting No. 1 overall pick and former Heisman trophy winner Caleb Williams. They have also surrounded him with new weapons, including veteran WR Keenan Allen and No. 9 pick Rome Odunze.
