NFL Expands Global Reach: Dublin and Paris in the Running for Future Games
The NFL has been making strides to bring the game to an international stage, and it seems that Dublin and Paris are next on the list. Henry Hodgson, general manager of the NFL’s UK office, revealed that the league is conducting feasibility studies in several European cities, including Dublin and Paris.
Potential host of future NFL games
“There’s a feasibility study, as we would call it, in a number of different European cities and Dublin is one of those,” Hodgson said. “Looking at the stadiums, taking local meetings … we’ll take away all of that information, digest it and determine what the next steps are.”
Hodgson also mentioned that the NFL is planning to evaluate Croke Park and Aviva Stadium for potential games in Ireland. Croke Park, which previously hosted a preseason game between the Bears and Steelers in 1997, has a seating capacity of 82,300 fans. Aviva Stadium, on the other hand, has hosted college football games in the past and can accommodate 51,700 fans.
