The Las Vegas Raiders are gearing up for their 65th anniversary season in the NFL, and to mark this monumental occasion, the team has unveiled a brand new logo. This logo is more than just a shield - it’s a symbol of the team’s rich history and its exciting future.
Raiders Unveil New Logo Ahead of 2024 NFL Season
The new logo features the roman numeral LXV, which represents the team’s 65 years in the league. The ‘LX’ part of the logo pays homage to the team’s 60 years spent in Oakland and Los Angeles, while the ‘V’ denotes the team’s five years in Las Vegas. But that’s not all - the ‘XV’ part of the logo also represents the Raiders’ 15th Super Bowl, when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 in January 1981.
The Raiders have a long and storied history in the NFL, dating back to 1960 when they were one of the original eight franchises in the American Football League. They joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL-NFL merger and have since won three Lombardi trophies, including Super Bowls XI, XV, and XVIII. The franchise also won the 1967 AFL title and the 2002 AFC Championship.
As the Raiders look ahead to the 2024 NFL season, they do so under the leadership of head coach Antonio Pierce. Pierce, a former linebackers coach, became the team’s interim head coach after the firing of Josh McDaniels last season. He led the team to a 5-4 finish, including a impressive road win over the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
