It all started early in Sharpe’s professional football career when he got caught up in unwanted drama with women on two separate occasions. The first instance was right after the Denver Broncos selected him in the seventh round out of Savannah State. He returned to Georgia after the draft and didn’t want to scare his grandmother at home with a late arrival, so he called a woman and asked if he could sleep over.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Sharpe said he got a bad feeling and decided to keep his clothes on, but he soon found himself in a situation where he was face-to-face with a massive fan who had a few “bodies on his resume.” Luckily, the man didn’t have a problem with Sharpe, but with the woman they were both dealing with.

Despite this close call, Sharpe didn’t learn his lesson. In 1993, he went back to Savannah State for homecoming while the Broncos had a bye week. He called a woman to meet up with while he was in town, but things took a dark turn when a man showed up at the door with an AK-47.

The man then asked if he knew who he was, and Sharpe replied, “Yeah, my man.” The man then said, “I thought so.” Sharpe was shocked and quickly got out of there, realizing he had narrowly escaped a dangerous situation.

Since then, Sharpe has not slept at a woman’s house, and he attributes this decision to saving his life. He got in the car and started to drive away with his friend when he realized he had left his expensive jewelry at the house. The man in question gave it back to him, and Sharpe was grateful to have escaped the situation unscathed.
