The College Football Playoff (CFP) is set to kick off on December 20, with the first-round games taking place on college campuses. The four games will be televised on ABC, ESPN, and TNT, with kickoff times scheduled for 8 pm EST on Friday and Saturday nights. The afternoon games on December 21 will air on TNT, going head-to-head with a pair of NFL games.
“I think it will be fine for the NFL and college football to coexist on that date,” said Mike Mulvihill, Fox president for insights and analytics. “I think both events will rate just fine.”
The top four conference champions will receive first-round byes, with the quarterfinals taking place on December 31. The semifinals will be held on January 9 and 10, with the championship game set for January 20 in Atlanta.

The CFP’s $7.8 billion deal with ESPN allows for sublicensing games to other networks, with TNT securing a pair of games through a sublicense agreement. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The quarterfinals will feature the Fiesta Bowl on December 31, followed by the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day, the Rose Bowl, and the Sugar Bowl. The semifinals will be held at the Orange Bowl on January 9 and the Cotton Bowl on January 10, with both games kicking off at 7:30 pm EST.
