The Road to Super Bowl LIX: Early Favorites and Dark Horses
The confetti has barely been swept up from the Kansas City Chiefs’ thrilling overtime win in Super Bowl LVIII, and yet, the odds for next year’s championship are already shifting. The Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers opened as favorites to win it all, and three months later, they still top the betting board.
But the free agency period and NFL Draft have moved the needle for some teams, and the recent schedule release has further shifted the odds. One team that’s seen a significant move is the New York Jets, whose Super Bowl futures have shortened to +2400 from +2700.
The NFL schedule release always brings excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season.
The Jets’ schedule is particularly noteworthy, with six primetime matchups in the first 11 weeks of the 2024-25 NFL season. When asked about the primetime slate, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers quipped, “We are must-watch TV. That’s pretty obvious. Everybody knows that. Whether you love me or hate me, people wanna see me play.”

Another team that’s seen a slight move is the Arizona Cardinals, whose title futures shortened to +8000 from +10000 over the past two weeks. The Cardinals’ selection of wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 pick in the draft is expected to bolster their offense next season.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to make an impact for the Cardinals in the upcoming season.
The Atlanta Falcons are another team to keep an eye on. Their odds stayed put after the schedule release, but they moved to +2400 from +3000 after the NFL Draft. The Falcons added to their quarterback room, selecting Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 pick, just weeks after signing four-time Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins.
Kirk Cousins is expected to bring stability to the Falcons’ quarterback position.
As we look ahead to Super Bowl LIX, set to take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, it’s clear that the NFL landscape is already shifting. Who will emerge as the top contender for the Vince Lombardi Trophy?
