The NFL community is in mourning after a devastating car crash claimed the lives of three young men, including Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson and his two former high school teammates, Anthony Lytton Jr. and Isaiah Hazel. The accident occurred on July 6, 2024, in Prince George’s County, leaving behind a trail of heartbreak and shattered dreams.

A Star-Crossed Career

Khyree Jackson, a 24-year-old cornerback, was a rising star in the NFL. Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round, he had already made a name for himself in the football world. His journey began at Dr. Henry Wise Jr. High School, where he played alongside Lytton and Hazel. The trio went on to pursue college football careers, with Jackson playing for Alabama and Oregon, Lytton for Florida State and Penn State, and Hazel for Maryland and Charlotte.

The three friends were involved in a three-car crash on Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue and Presidential Parkway in Upper Marlboro. According to Maryland State Police, the driver of the Infiniti, Cori Clingman, attempted to change lanes at a high rate of speed, striking the Dodge Charger carrying the three victims. The Charger subsequently traveled off the road and struck multiple tree stumps, resulting in the tragic loss of life.

Minnesota Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah expressed his heartbreak, saying, “I am heartbroken by the loss of Khyree… His story was one of resilience.” Gov. Wes Moore also paid tribute to the three young men, stating, “We mourn him and the two other souls lost in this crash.”
